COLLEGE STATION, Texas (SMU) – No. 3 SMU Equestrian fell 10-8 to No. 4 Texas A&M on the road on Saturday at the Hildebrand Equine Complex.
The Mustangs started strong with a 3-2 win in Fences. Senior
Hannah Hoch secured her point with a score of 71.50 against the Aggies' Alexa Leong.
Aedan Mooney threw down a mark of 78 to contribute another win for SMU. The final Fences point came from
Caroline Signorino. The sophomore recorded a score of 84 to clinch the Fences win.
On Flat, the Mustangs stopped the Aggies from nabbing two points. Captain
Augusta Iwasaki tied with Texas A&M's Kate Egan after posting 71.50.
Genevieve Johns also tied with an Aggie, scoring a 72 against Londyn Samlaska.
Jayna Lagace, the reigning NCEA Horsemanship Rider of the Month, claimed a 74.50-73.75 victory over the Aggies' Kendall Dirksen. The other Horsemanship point was earned by
Violet Shetler, scoring a 77.25 on her ride on Roscoe.
SMU won in Reining, defeating Texas A&M 3-2.
Makenna Bomke logged a score of 71.50 to secure the first point.
Addi Schmersal also found success, winning her point with a 68.75. The final victory came from
Madison Rafacz. The freshman scored a 72 against Anna Harris' 70.25, earning her fourth MOP of the season. Rafacz remains undefeated this season with a record of 7-0-1. The Mustangs have won the Reining MOP in every meet this season for a total of eight.
