DALLAS (SMU) – SMU women's soccer Head Coach
Nicole Nelson elevated
Miles Vaughn to the role of Associate Head Coach ahead of the 2026 season. Vaughn is now in his third year with the Mustangs and has been a driving force behind the program's continued success, both on the field and in recruiting.
"Miles is very deserving of this promotion, Nelson said. "He has added significant value in a lot of areas with our program, but specifically as the recruiting coordinator during our transition into the ACC. Miles has worked tirelessly to build an ACC-level roster, and his dedication to our program will continue to help us reach new heights.
"I'm extremely grateful for the continued opportunity to work with this amazing group of student-athletes and staff, Vaughn said. "Thank you to
Nicole Nelson, staff and administration for the trust placed in me. I look forward to continuing to help push SMU Women's Soccer forward as we look towards the 2026 season."
Vaughn has helped usher in a new era of women's soccer on the Hilltop, as the Mustangs joined the ACC in 2024. Vaughn joined the staff in the spring of 2024 and was promoted to Director of Player Development prior to the start of the 2025 season. Working directly with the Mustangs' attack, SMU has scored 57 goals over the last two seasons and has had 16 multi-goal games.
Last season, Vaughn played a major role in the development of midfielder
Lindsay Nicholson, who was named one of the top 100 freshmen in the nation by TopDrawerSoccer.
Prior to his arrival on the Hilltop, Vaughn spent six seasons as part of the Maryland men's soccer program. Vaughn was a part of the 2018 NCAA National Championship-winning team and helped guide the Terrapins to five total NCAA Tournament appearances during his tenure.
Vaughn, a Dallas native, holds both a USSF A-Youth Coaching License and an NSCAA Advanced National License with a Distinguished Pass.
