DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU women's tennis team fell to No. 14 NC State (12-5, 5-1 ACC) as the Wolfpack defeated the Mustangs 4-1 inside the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex Sunday afternoon. 
 
The loss drops SMU to 10-5, 4-4 in ACC play in year one under head coach Kelcy McKenna.   
   
For only the second time in the dual season, SMU lost the doubles point. NC State's No. 2-ranked court one pair of Victoria Osuigwe and Gabriella Broadfoot handed No. 10-ranked Caroline McGinley and Amelie Van Impe their first loss of the spring, in a 6-3 decision. Natalie Stasny and Sophie Llewellyn also fell to a ranked NC State duo, dropping their match 6-3 to No. 57-ranked Jasmine Conway and Anna Zyryanova. 
 
Court three was deemed unfinished; however, the freshman tandem of Addison Comiskey and Ellie Mireles held a 5-4 lead.    
 
The Wolfpack added to their lead with a win on court one as No. 41-ranked Mia Slama defeated No. 49 Amelie Van Impe 7-5, 6-2. The Mustangs' only point of the afternoon came on court six as Addison Comiskey got a straight set win over Amelie Smejkalova of NC State 6-4, 6-2.    
 
NC State collected the final two points it need with a win on courts three and then the clinch on court five to claim the 4-1 victory In the two matches that were deemed unfinished, Caroline McGinley led 3-0 in the third set on court three, and Ellie Mireles was up one set and in a 2-2 tie in a second-set tiebreaker on court four.

The Mustangs travel to Louisville on Friday, March 20, for their next match. First serve is scheduled for 2 pm CT.
