DALLAS, Texas (SMU) -- The Mustangs will host eighteen teams this weekend for the SMU Invitational. The meet was brought back last season after 27 years, and this year, it returns for another exciting weekend of track and field. 

The meet will begin on Friday with field events starting at 4 p.m. and running following at 6:30 p.m. Action will resume in the field events on Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. with running beginning at noon. Mustang seniors will be recognized at 4 p.m. on Saturday. 

In most of the events 800 meters and above, fans will get to experience a new addition to the Mustang track. This week, a Wavelight pacing system was installed – providing a new tool for training and competition. 

"We are excited to introduce our new Wavelight System — it is a game changer for how our athletes train and compete," Head Coach A'Havahla Haynes said. "It gives real time, visual pacing that takes the guess work out of effort and helps build workout consistency and pace awareness. It turns preparation into precision." 

This is the final regular season meet of the year before the Mustangs enter the championship portion of the season, starting with the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championship mid-May.
