Follow The Mustangs In NBA Summer League

2026 NBA SUMMER LEAGUE 

DALLAS (SMU/NBA)
 --- Three Mustangs will play with NBA teams for the 2026 NBA Summer League July 9-19 in Las Vegas. Jaron Pierre Jr. was selected in the second round (58th overall) of the NBA Draft by the New Orleans Pelicans. Boopie Miller signed as a free agent with the Milwaukee Bucks and  B.J. Edwards signed as a free agent with the Sacramento Kings. Edwards and Miller will also be part of the California Classic Summer League July 3-6.

In his lone season on the Hilltop, Pierre Jr. helped the Mustangs return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017. He was named NABC All-Gulf District Second Team and All-ACC Honorable Mention as he averaged 17.6 points (7th ACC), 4.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steals with a 1.1 assist-to-turnover ratio. He shot 46.2% from the field, 75.8% on free throws and 37.0% on threes while making 2.4 threes per game (11th ACC). On Dec. 7, he was the Hoop Hype XL Player of the Game with 35 points in a 93-80 overtime win vs Texas A&M.

Edwards spent three seasons on the Hilltop, earning two ACC All-Defensive Team selections and All-ACC Honorable Mention as a senior. In 2025-26, he was a three-time ACC Player of the Week, which was second to Duke's Cameron Boozer (five times). Edwards averaged 12.7 points (30th ACC), 5.9 rebounds (17th ACC), 4.9 assists (7th ACC, 67th NCAA) and 2.3 steals (1st ACC, 12th NCAA) as he tied for the national lead with two triple-doubles and was the only player nationally with three games of 20 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals. Edwards finished his final season at SMU with a 2.56 assist-to-turnover ratio (5th ACC, 66th NCAA) while shooting 47.4% overall, 37.2% on threes and 77.1% at the free-throw line. As a junior in 2024-25, he set the Mustang program record with 83 steals. He ranks among the all-time career leaders at SMU for steals average (1.9, T-3rd), steals (180, 5th), games started (93, T-12th), Assists (364, 14th), assists average (3.6, T-15th) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.30, 6th).

In two seasons at SMU, Miller was a two-time All-ACC selection and 2025-26 NABC All-District honoree. As a senior in 2025-26, he averaged 19.1 points (4th ACC, 53rd NCAA), 3.8 rebounds, 6.4 assists (2nd ACC, 17th NCAA) and 1.5 steals (14th ACC) with a 2.48 assist-to-turnover ratio (6th ACC, 74th NCAA) while recording five points-assists double-doubles (11th ACC). He shot 46.5% from the field (11th ACC), 41.4% on threes and 86.6% on free throws (3rd ACC, 63rd NCAA). Miller had 27 points in the win versus [12/12] North Carolina on Jan. 3 to earn honors as ACC Player of the Week, AP National Player of the Week and one of five Oscar Robertson Trophy National Players of the Week (Jan. 6). He was on the Lute Olson Award Early Season Watch List and Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List. He was also No. 30 on the ESPN Top 50 Players at midseason and received votes on The Athletic Midseason All-America Teams.
 
He hit three game-winners in the final seconds for the Mustangs including a half-court buzzer-beater for the 77-76 win versus Virginia Tech on Jan. 14, 2026 and a right-wing 3-pointer with 0.4 seconds left at Virginia for 54-52 win on Jan. 15, 2025. This past season saw him etch his name in the SMU record book for assists (211, 5th), points (629, 6th), free throws (162, T-8th), free-throw percentage (86.6%, 10th), scoring average (19.1, T-18th), assist-to-turnover ratio (2.48, 10th) and points-assists double-doubles (5, T-3rd). His SMU career marks include free-throw percentage (84.9%, 3rd), assists average (6.0, 3rd), steals average (1.5, T-11th), scoring average (16.4, T-10th), assists (366, 13th) and 3-point percentage (38.7%, 15th).
