
Van Impe Clinches NCAA Championships Bid, Advances To Quarterfinals At ITA All-Americans

CARY, N.C. (SMU) - SMU Women's Tennis athlete Amelie Van Impe qualified for the NCAA Individual Championships after advancing to the quarterfinal round of the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, N.C., on Friday.
Van Impe defeated No. 55 Stephanie Yakoff of Harvard, 6-1, 6-0, in the Round of 16.
It marks the first individual qualification to the NCAA Individual Championships for the sophomore and the second since head coach Kelcy McKenna took over on the Hilltop in 2025 for SMU, joining teammate Sophie Llewellyn, who qualified last season at ITA Sectionals.
Van Impe won her other two matches of the tournament in straight sets, defeating No. 119 Tianmei Wang of Stanford, 6-3, 6-2, in the Round of 64 and then beating No. 33 Lavinia Tanasie of NC State, 6-2, 7-6(2) in the Round of 32.
She will face the winner of No. 95 Nicole Khirin (UNC) and No. 81 Mimi Xu (Duke) today at 2:30 p.m. CT in the Semifinal round.
