2020-21 (Jr.): OUTDOOR… All-American Honorable Mention after she was part of the 4x400 relay that finished 21st at the NCAA Championships (3:39.21 w/ Ashton Woods, Whitney Williams and Annette Bolomboy)… The same group set the SMU record in the 4x400 at the AAC Championships (3:37.15, finish 3rd)… Set the SMU record in the 400m at the NCAA Regional (52.24, 16th) after finishing second in the same event at the AAC Championships (52.96)
SOPHOMORE: Finished first every time she hit the track in a 400m race for the entire season ... started the season off with a win with the 4x400 squad down in Houston (3:44.72) ... the the 4x400 team broke the school record the following week with a 3:42.95 and another first place finish ... Iwuamadi finished first in the 400m as well coming within one second of improving on her school record in the 400m (53.62) ... broke her school record the following meet with a blazing 53.52 at the Meyor Invite, good for a first-place finish amongst a competitive field ... wrapped up the Indoor season with an Outstanding performance at the Conference Championship ... started the event with a dominant performance in the 400m prelims, easily winning the top spot ... ran away with the 400m final for an AAC GOLD, crushing her own school record by .31 seconds ... anchored the SMU 4x400 squad that capped the Championships with a gold medal in the event, the Mustangs' first sprint relay AAC Gold
FRESHMAN: Began her SMU career with a 7th place finish in 200m at the Arkansas Invite (24.66), also teamed up to post a 3rd place finish in the 4x400 ... broke an SMU record in the 400m with a time of 53.61 at the MLK Jr. Invite ... placed 4th at the Houston Invite with a 24.40 in the 200m ... won bronze at her first career AAC Championships ... placed third in the 400m breaking her own personal best of 54.28 ... was a part of the SMU 4x400 squad that finished in 5th ... PERSONAL: Chika Ann Iwuamadi is the daughter of Bosede and Ogbonna John Iwuamadi of Wylie, Texas … born in Ibadan, Nigeria … father Ogbonna John is an SMU graduate … has three younger siblings, Goodnews, Faithful and Livingstone … anticipates majoring in Economics … father and mother played soccer and tennis in Nigeria respectively … chose SMU because “SMU is the best environment where my skills, talents and potential can utilized” … hobbies include playing the piano
HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered in Track all four seasons at Rockwall High School under coach William McCrary … qualified for state twice in the 400 m, finishing second her senior year … Ran a personal best 54.2 in the 400 m … two-time State qualifier in the 4X4 … MVP of her team her sophomore year … she holds several Rockwall High School records including 400 m, 4x200, 4x400 … helped Rockwall win regional titles her sophomore and junior season … also a national champion in the 4x4 and the 4x8 … played volleyball her freshman year and spent time on the cross country team.
