Bobby Brown was hired as SMU’s Director of Recruiting Operations in January 2022, coming to the Hilltop after serving as Air Force’s Coordinator of Recruiting & Player Personnel.

Prior to his time at Air Force, he spent 2019 through the summer of 2021 at North Carolina. He most recently served as the Assistant Director of Player Personnel after serving as a Recruiting Analyst and Recruiting/Player Personnel Assistant at the beginning of his tenure with UNC. He helped the Tar Heels bring in back-to-back top-15 recruiting classes.

In 2018, Brown served as a defensive quality control at Wake Forest. Prior to Wake Forest, he served as the Assistant Director of Recruiting and Player Personnel for the Air Force Academy from 2016 to 2018 under Troy Calhoun. Brown also served as a football operations intern at Iowa State, operations assistant for Army’s athletics department and as an offensive quality control coach at UIW.

Brown was a member of the Iowa State football team in 2010-11 before transferring to Buena Vista University, where he was a four-year starter at quarterback. Brown was named all-conference twice, MVP of the National Bowl, three-year captain and broke over 20 records. He graduated with a double-major in accounting and business management, while also being named to the Dean’s List.
