Tyler Olker joined the Mustang staff in February of 2020 and serves as the Director of Recruiting Operations.
As head of recruiting operations, Olker was instrumental in the signing of the 2021 class, which is the highest-ranked in program history and features the highest signee for SMU. It also boasts the highest average recruiting rating in the American Athletic Conference and is better than 16 Power 5 programs.
ESPN's recruiting service named the 2021 class No. 1 among Group of 5 programs and No. 46 overall.
Olker came to the Hilltop after four seasons at Kansas, where he most recently served as the director of recruiting operations. While a member of the Jayhawk staff, Olker was responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily recruiting operations and logistics within the Kansas football program.
Specifically, Olker’s duties also included managing official and unofficial visits, Junior Days and summer camps. He also worked directly with the director of personnel to coordinate all updates to the recruiting database and with the creative services team and communications department in the management of the content, creation and design for social media efforts. Additionally, he served as the liaison to the compliance office as it pertained to recruiting.
Olker joined the Kansas Staff after working at the University of Northern Colorado where he served as a graduate assistant for the 2014 season. There, he worked under defensive coordinator Larry Kerr.
A native of Spring Grove, Illinois, Olker graduated from UNC with a degree in sports and exercise science in 2014 and went on to earn his master’s in 2016. Olker was a two-time letterwinner, earning All-Big Sky honors, after transferring from the College of DuPage where he helped his team to a Graphic Edge Bowl victory in 2010.
