The multipurpose Armstrong Fieldhouse supports our commitment to outstanding facility resources for the entire campus community. A transformative presence on Bishop Boulevard, it features an indoor turf football practice field, as well as spaces for training, fitness, special events, and MustangVision Studios. The facility enhances the student experience and elevates competitive, high-performance athletics at SMU.
Â
ARMSTRONG FIELDHOUSE | Constructed in a Collegiate Georgian architectural style that is harmonious with SMU’s traditional campus environment, the Armstrong Fieldhouse includes features such as two scoreboards, a videoboard, glass roll-up doors and translucent panels above the practice field to let in natural light. Housing the Weber Observation Deck and Loyd Field, Armstrong Fieldhouse incorporates tributes to SMU’s most famous football alumni.
WEBER OBSERVATION DECK | Located indoors on the second floor, the Weber Observation Deck overlooks the Armstrong Fieldhouse and offers prime views of practices or other activities.
Â
CRUM TERRACE | Located on the second floor, and visible from Bishop Boulevard and Binkley Avenue, it is a premier outdoor event space with two entrances from the recruiting lounge.
Â
MILLER BOULEVARD BALLROOM | Located on the ground floor just inside the main entrance off Bishop Boulevard, it serves as a multipurpose space that can accommodate banquets, presentations, meetings, hospitality and other social gatherings for Athletics, as well as campus and community events.
Â
FORREST GREGG LETTERWINNERS PLAZA | As a testament to over 100 years of SMU Football history, the Forrest Gregg Letterwinners Plaza features bricks with all of the men and women who earned a football varsity letter as a student-athlete, manager or trainer since the program’s inception in 1915.
MUSTANGVISION STUDIOS | The new broadcast production facility serves as the epicenter for SMU’s coverage of ACC sporting events, offering enhanced capabilities for live broadcasts, in-venue videoboard production, studio shows, and digital content creation. At the heart of this advancement was the creation of four control rooms centered around a cutting-edge SMPTE 2110-compliant core, making SMU’s one of the few universities with a fully SMPTE 2110 operation. The facility includes several editing suits, an independent shading and engineering room, small cut-in studio, technical operations center, and production staff offices.
