DALLAS (SMU) -Â SMU will head to Watts Cross Country Course in College Station this Friday for the Texas A&M Invitational.Â
The Mustangs began with a team win at the John McKenzie Invitational. Rose Mburu finished first individually, first of her career, with a time of 17:28.5. Mburu was followed in by freshman Mary Nyangate and Carolina Correia in second and third, with times of 17:29.4 and 17:38.3 respectively. Georgia Bell rounds out the Mustangs in top-five, finishing fifth overall with a time of 18:04.5. SMU had eight runners in the top-ten and all in the top half of the pool.
Head Coach 'A Havahla Haynes is entering her eighth season on the Hilltop leading the program, with SMU competing in its third season within the ACC. Haynes has guided the Mustangs to seven team wins throughout her tenure. SMU will compete against TCU for the second Friday in a row.Â
The past two outings at Texas A&M Invitational, the Mustangs finished in first (2025) and second (2026) as a team. SMU still stands at fifth in the South Central Region rankings.
Following the Texas A&M Invitational, the Mustangs will travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma for the Cowboy Jamboree on Sept. 26.Â
