College Station, Texas -- The SMU men's cross country team finished in second place with 96 points Saturday morning at the 10-team Texas A&M Classic in College Station, Texas. The Aggies won their own invitational with 75 points. The muddy five-mile race took place on the TAMU Golf Course.
SMU freshman Dalibor Balgac claimed second place individually with a time of 26:11, only two seconds behind individual medalist Juan De Bastos of Texas A&M. Senior David Gerych placed sixth with a time of 26:35. Junior Graham Davidson finished in 15th with a time of 27:04.
On the women's side, freshman Karin van Rooyen topped the Mustangs and ran the women's 6,000-meter race in a time of 22:49. The SMU women's team did not finish enough runners to qualify for team and individual points.
SMU's next competition will take place on Friday, October 19 in San Marcos, Texas, for the Southwest Texas State Short Course event.
