DALLAS (SMU) -- The SMU women's soccer team continued its domination in the Western Athletic Conference with a 4-0 win over visiting Hawaii Sunday afternoon at Westcott Field. With the win, SMU improves to 8-4-3 overall (4-0-1 WAC) while Hawaii falls to 5-7-2 overall (2-2 WAC).
Sophomore Amanda Jordan recorded SMU's first goal at the 40:27 mark when she floated a shot into the upper corner of the net. SMU increased its lead to 2-0 at the 61:27 mark as sophomore Jill Heinemann scored her sixth goal of the season with a header off a feed from teammate Misty Noland. At 72:16, junior Lauren Mussallem gave the Lady Mustangs a 3-0 lead off a feed from Kim Harvey. Junior Ashley VanMeter collected her first goal of the season at the 77:04 mark to close out SMU's scoring.
The Lady Mustangs play three games this coming week with, starting with a home non-conference tilt vs. regional foe North Texas Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Westcott Field. SMU then hits the road for two WAC games (Friday at Tulsa - 7:00 p.m., Sunday at Rice - 1:00 p.m.).
