Tulsa, Okla. - The eighth-ranked SMU men's soccer team improved to 5-1 on the season with a 2-0 victory over Denver Thursday night in day one of the Golden Hurricane Classic in Tulsa. Denver falls to 3-4-1 overall. It was the third consecutive game in which the Mustangs held an opponent scoreless.
SMU got on the scoreboard at the 18:53 mark when junior J.D. Johnston one-timed a shot past Denver goalkeeper Lami Harmon. SMU sealed the victory in the final minute of regulation time as junior Adam Robertson headed in a rebounded shot at the 89:02 mark.
The Mustangs take on Stanford Friday night in the final day of the Golden Hurricane Classic. Kick-off is slated for 5:00 p.m. and the live audio can be heard on www.kxvilive.com.
