EAST LANSING, Mich. (SMU) - The SMU women's golf team took second place the Mary Fossum Invitational this weekend at the Forest Akers West Golf Course. As a team, SMU carded rounds of 294-301-302 to stand at 897, eight strokes behind champion and host Michigan State (889).

Individually, SMU's Kristina Rothengatter (73-74-74-221-+5) tied for third and Jennifer Ackerson (73-75-74-222-+6) tied for eighth. Lacey Jones (73-74-79-226-+10), who was tied for second after two rounds, struggled in round three to finish in a tie for 17th. Laura Cross (75-78-78-231-+15) and Ashley Deatherage (77-78-76-231-+15) rounded out the SMU group and tied for 29th.

SMU will return to tournament play Oct. 1-2 at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich.
