Fayetteville, Ark. - The SMU women's cross country team placed ninth (323 points) at Saturday's Chile Pepper Festival (6k race) hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. The Lady Razorbacks took the team title in the 43-team field with 41 points followed by Duke (132 points) and Texas Tech (134 points).
Top Mustang finisher was junior Rachael Forish who finished in 10th place (out of 331 participants) with a time of 20:40.8. Teammate Jessica Jackson placed 51st with a mark of 21:45.1. Other Mustang finishers include Jessa Simmons (68th place - 22:06.1), Sierra Anderson (89th place - 22:20.9), Anne Gustafson (143rd place - 22:56.9), Magan Moore (181st place - 23:25.4), and Rachel Barber (238th place -24:08.3).
Four Mustang personal best times were recorded Saturday. Forish bettered her personal best by 30 seconds; Simmons by 79 seconds; Anderson by 65 seconds; and Gustafson by 44 seconds.
Up next for SMU is the Conference USA Championships hosted by East Carolina, Oct. 28, in Greenville, N.C.
