The Mustangs were unable to prevail over Tulane tonight as they fell 3-0 (30-14, 30-26, 30-21). SMU is now 10-10 on the season and 1-5 in Conference USA play.
Rachel Giubilato nailed 13 kills, seven digs and two blocks. Stefanie Kons had 21 assists and four digs while Kendra Kahanek posted eight kills, two digs and one block. Caitlin Rainbird posted five kills, five digs and four blocks as Natalie Peters made six kills and five blocks.
Tulane jumped out to the lead posting seven quick points. Tulane continued to snap any rally the Mustangs could get started. The Green Wave continued to pull away, leaving SMU to fight their own struggles. Tulane won the first game, 30-14.
SMU put up a fight in game two, counting ten ties before Tulane started to pull away. The Mustangs battled back to tie the score at 20-20 as the points flipped-flopped through another four score ties. Tulane put together a three point series to take the, 30-26, win.
The Mustangs got off to slow start in game three as Tulane posted 12 unanswered points before Giubilato put down a kill. SMU could not get their momentum going as Tulane took the win, 30-21.
SMU travels to UTEP for another C-USA match in Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
