COLLEGE STATION, Texas (SMU) - The No.7 SMU women's swimming and diving team finished third at the Art Adamson Invitational hosted by Texas A&M this past weekend. Every day, the Mustangs watched season and career bests fall and tonight was no different as two Mustangs clock first-place finishes.
Anja Carman started the night off well for the Mustangs as she took first place in the 1650 free with a time of 16:18.92, touching the wall almost three seconds faster than anyone. Katie Roberts coasted to a sixth place finish with a time of 16:51.30 as Federica Felloni clocked a career best time of 17:17.06 for 13th place. Carman swam a team season best time of 1:57.57 in the 200 back for second place.
Posting a career best time in the 100 free, Petra Klosova took first place with a time of 48.84. She wasn't the only Mustangs to make career best time as Jennifer Blackman finished sixth with a time of 50.33. Leane Darling touched the wall in eighth place with a time of 50.70 as Michelle Vlasakova swam a career best time of 51.29 in tenth place. Angela San Juan Cisneros followed in 11th place with a time of 51.31 as Celina Lemmen took 13th place, clocking 51.41 and Tiffany Sammis posted 54.77 in prelims.
Tamara Sambrailo placed third in the 200 breast with a team season best time of 2:16.54. Jennifer Basel placed seventh with a time of 2:19.10 while Devon Callaghan swam a career best time of 2:21.34. Justine Clark swam a career best time in the 200 fly of 2:01.51 for fifth place. Kristin Schild posted a mark of 218.00 on the platform diving for fifth place.
Darling, J. Blackman, Vlasakova and Klosova compiled to swim a team season best time of 3:18.36 for second place in the 400 free relay. Lemmen, San Juan Cisneros, Clark and Roberts placed sixth with a time of 3:25.25.
The Mustangs will compete in the US Open in West Lafayette, Indiana, Nov. 30-Dec. 2 and then will head to Oklahoma City for the Kerr McGee Elite Meet from Dec. 14-17.
