Mustangs Head To Green Country For Weekend Competition

DALLAS (SMU) - The Mustang volleyball team is making their final regular season road trip this weekend as they head north to the "Green Country". SMU is slated to take-on Conference USA foe, Tulsa in a Saturday mid-day match at 1:00 p.m.
This is the 21st meeting between the two squads as SMU leads the overall series 16-5. The teams meet earlier this season with Tulsa taking the, 3-0, win over the Mustangs. Last season, the two teams split the two matches.
SMU is led by the junior outside hitting pair of Rachel Giubilato and Caitlin Rainbird. Giubilato is 19th in the nation in kills per game as she averages 4.78 a game. She continues to move up in the SMU record book as she is fifth on the all-time kills list with 1015 in her three years as a Mustang. Giubilato averages 3.44 digs per game and has totaled 35 aces on the season. Rainbird is fourth on the all-time career list in kills per game as she has averaged 3.21 kills per game in her three years at SMU. This season, Rainbird has compiled 368 total kills, averaging out to 3.57 per game. Along with her kills, she posts 3.18 digs per game which totals to 328 on the year.
Kendra Kahanek and Natalie Peters have made a stand at the net as the duo leads the Mustangs in blocks. Kahanek has accumulated 95 total blocks, averaging to 0.92 per game while Peters has compiled 87 total blocks, averaging 1.04 per game. Stefanie Kons and Madison Hill have been sharing time at the setter position this season. Kons has compiled 957 assists on the season which averages out to 11.67 per game. Hill averages 4.26 assists per game while she also averages 2.28 digs per game. Freshman libero Candice Davis averages 4.29 digs per game as she has compiled 425 on the season.
Tulsa is currently the No. 1 team in the league with a 10-3 conference record and is 23-6 overall. The Golden Hurricanes are led by Kassiana Urnau who has posted 408 kills, averaging out to 4.04 kills per game. She complements her attacks with 3.60 digs per game as well. Germana Hilario has compiled 353 kills on the season which averages to 3.57 per game while Kelsey Wood has dug up 409 digs for the season, averaging to 4.05 per game. Fabiola Nepomuceno leads the team with 86 total blocks this season which averages out to 0.87 per game. Julia Silva averages 11.99 assists per game and 3.22 digs per game.
