Giubilato Named To All-Region Team

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU junior Rachel Giubilato was named to the 2006 AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention Team as announced by the AVCA this afternoon.
This season, Giubilato worked her way through the SMU record book in single season and career numbers. She was named to the Conference USA All-Conference first team as she registered 20 double-doubles on the season. She compiled over 500 kills and her kills per game average of 4.66 ranks in the top 25 in the nation. Her season kill total and kills per game average both rank first in the SMU record book. She served up 37 aces which is sixth on the all-time season list and fifth in service ace percentage. Giubilato compiled 445 digs which ranks fifth in season records and her 3.65 average stands seventh. The junior totaled 644.5 points which is first in season records and first in points per game with 5.28. Early in the season she set the school record with 33 kills against SFA and then followed that up holding second place with the 31 kills she registered against UCF. Her attack percentage of .636 against Loyola-Marymount is the second best in school history. Giubilato was named MVP of SMU Radisson Hotel Invitational and named to Indiana Credit Union Invitational team. She has 1091 career kills which ranks fifth and a career average of 3.78 ranking second. Her career digs of 999 is seventh and 3.46 dpg is fourth. Giubilato was named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 13 for the first time in her career.
