Chardon, Ohio - After holding the 15th position at the close of Friday's competition, the SMU men's golf team could not make any upward movement in the standings on Saturday, posting a final-round score of 300 and a 54-hole total of 895. The Mustangs concluded the 2006 NCAA Central Regional in 15th place and will not compete in the NCAA Championships. Oklahoma State claimed the Regional title with a three-round total of 845. Only teams finishing in the top 10 advance to the NCAA Championships.
Saturday's top Mustang finisher was Brando DeStefano who rallied back to shoot a two-over par 73. Will Dodson shot a final round score of 74 while Colt Knost posted a round of 75. Wes Homan and Dan Kleckner shots scores of 78 and 79, respectively. Knost shot a three-round total of 218 and was SMU's top finisher (tied for 20th place).
