FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (SMU) - SMU freshman Silje Fjortoft had her second consecutive strong showing for the Mustangs as she took fourth at the prestigious Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Agri Park Cross Country Course.
Fjortoft, coming off a fifth-place finish at the Notre Dame Invitational, crossed the line of the 6,000 meter course that will serve as the NCAA South Central Regional Championship site in 20:52.
Jessa Simmons also took a top-50 finish, crossing in 22:13 for 46th. Krystal Rodriguez (136th/23:53), Ilyssa Pettigrew (151st/24:11) and Kelsey Howard (183rd/24:57) rounded out the SMU squad.
As a team, SMU was 18th in the 41-team field.

The Mustangs will return to the course Oct. 27 at the Conference USA Championships in El Paso.
