Mustangs Stampede To Lead At OU Intercollegiate

EDMOND, Okla. (SMU) - After posting a blistering team total of 281 for the second round, the SMU men's golf team holds a five-shot lead at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate at the par-71, 7,417-yard Oak Tree Golf Club. SMU's 281 was 11 shots better than any other team in the field on Monday - a field that includes four squads ranked in the top 35 in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches poll.
Individually, Ben Tewes carded a 3-under 68 over the second 18 and is now 3-over at 145 and tied for third. Freshman Kelly Kraft is not far behind Tewes, as his second-round 71 left him tied for fifth at 146. James Minahan (81-69) and Draegen Majors (77-73) both sit tied for 14th at 150 and Arwed Fischer (78-80) rounds out the SMU team in 41st at 158. Nicholas Soglanich (79-81), playing as an individual, is in 48th at 160.
The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday starting at 9 a.m.
