Tewes Tied For Seventh At Windon Memorial

GLENCOE, Ill. (SMU) - SMU sophomore Ben Tewes sits in a tie for seventh place following 36 holes at the Windon Memorial Golf Classic held at the par 71 Lake Shore Country Club. Tewes carded rounds of 72 and 68 to sit at 2-under and is just three shots back of leader David Lipsky of host Northwestern.
As a team, SMU is in eighth place at 579 in the 13-team field which includes four squads which finished the spring 2007 season ranked in the top 50 of the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. In addition to SMU, participating teams in this year's Windon Memorial include DePaul, Indiana, Kansas, Kent State, Marquette, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, Northern Illinois, Northwestern and Purdue.
Freshman Kelly Kraft also sits in the top 20 at 1-over 143 for two rounds (72-71-T20), while Arwed Fischer is in 47th at 7-over 149, Draegen Majors is 52nd at 8-over 150 and James Minahan is 58th at 11-over 153.
Former Mustang Colt Knost was last year's medalist while helping guide the Mustangs to the team title.
