TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (SMU) - SMU freshman Silje Fjortoft finished 49th at the NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country National Championship at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course on Monday afternoon, crossing the line of the 6K course in 21:11.00.
Among freshmen, Fjortoft was third overall, trailing only Alexandra Kosinski of Oregon and Ilsa Paulson of Northern Arizona.
The race wraps up a decorated season for the Orsta, Norway, native, as she was named the NCAA South Central Region Athlete of the Year, the C-USA Freshman of the Year was twice tabbed as the C-USA Athlete of the Week.
Texas Tech's Sally Kipyego dominated the race and took home her second-straight NCAA title with a time of 19:30.9, a new course record.
