NORMAN, Okla. -- Fighting through tough final-round conditions, the SMU women's golf held on for a third-place finish at the 18-team Susie Maxwell Berning Classic at the par-72, 6,013-yard Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course. SMU fired a final round 302 to finish at 875, 15 shots back of champion Baylor.

"Twenty-five mile-an-hour winds and a wind chill of 32 don't make for ideal golf conditions," said SMU Head Coach Todd Selders. "But our team had no complaints and played their best today. We feel like this was a good tournament and will now focus on fine tuning for our big upcoming events."

Individually, Lacey Jones took fourth at 212 after shooting a final round 75.

"Lacey had a nice tournament and had a chance to win her fourth collegiate event," said Selders. "She had the opportunity to play alongside one of the nation's best players (Arkansas' Stacy Lewis) and she should really gain from that experience."

SMU's best round of the day was carded by Jennifer Ackerson, who was at even-par 72.

"Jennifer's 72 was better than it may seem on paper," said Selders. "This course was not playing par-72 today. It was a pretty stellar round. It also shows that she's back."

Kristina Rothengatter shot 77 on Monday and finished at 222 and in 20th. Kate Ackerson's final round 78 dropped her to 22nd at 223, while Sarah Dodson finished tied for 57th at 231.
