COLUMBIA, Mo. (SMU)--The No. 14 SMU women's swimming team continued its impressive outing at the Missouri Grand Prix Saturday.
Petra Klosova took second in the B final of the 100 LC meter free, clocking a time of 56.88. Her finish was the ninth-fastest time in the event. Sascha Van den Branden finished eighth in the B final in 57.60, good for 16th overall. In the B final of the 200 LC meter fly, Justine Clark touched in at 2:17.58. Her time was seventh in the B final and 15th overall.
In the evening session, Van den Branden swam the 200 LC meter free prelims. She completed the course in 17th place in a time of 2:03.10. Her finish puts her squarely in the C final to be held Sunday morning. Several Mustangs swam the 50 LC meter free prelims. Klosova was the top SMU finisher, taking 13th overall, with a time of 26.46. Next was Van den Branden, who finished 21st in 26.65. Angela San Juan Cisneros was 24th in 26.76, just making the finals cut. Elzanne Werth finished 27th in 26.86. Former Mustang Michelle Vlasakova was 47th in 27.38 and assistant women's swimming coach Dominique Diezi was 23rd, touching in at 26.75.
Sunday, the Mustangs will compete in the 200 LC meter free and the 50 LC meter free finals in the morning session. In the evening session, San Juan Cisneros, Werth and Clark will swim the 100 LC meter fly prelims and Klosova will swim the 100 LC meter back prelims and the 200 IM prelims. Vlasakova will also swim the 200 IM.
