LOS ANGELES, CALIF. (SMU) - Freshman goalkeeper Courtney Webb saved all 11 shots she faced in the second half against national power USC as the SMU women's soccer team fell, 4-0, to the defending national champions.
USC, ranked No. 4 in the current National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll, got the only goal it would need in the fourth minute from Marihelen Tomer and added three more insurance goals against the Mustangs, who were coming off a hard-fought win at Cal State-Fullerton Friday night.
Webb entered the game in the second half and turned in a sterling performance, denying USC on every second-half shot. Sophomore Lauren Shepherd led the SMU offense with two shots.
The Mustangs return home to begin the Conference USA portion of the schedule when they host Colorado College at 7 p.m. Friday night at Westcott Field.
