DENTON (SMU) - SMU senior Ilyssa Pettigrew won the Ken Garland Invitational at Eagle Point Campus on Saturday, September 27, crossing the line of the 5K race in 18:18.5, nearly 30 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.

SMU sent only three runners to the UNT meet and all three finished in the top 14. In addition to Pettigrew's strong showing, Celeste Sullivan was ninth in 19:10.6 and Aasha Marietta was 14th in 19:50.4.

SMU will return to the course on Oct. 3 at the Notre Dame Invitational.
