North Falmouth, Mass. (SMU) - The SMU men's golf team bettered its round-one effort by 20 shots and moved up six spots to finish eighth at the Hawks Invitational at Ballymeade Country Club on Tuesday, Sept. 30. SMU carded a 287 on day two - the fourth-best team score of the day - and finished at 594 for the 36-hole, rain-shortened event.
Four of the five Mustang golfers shot par or better on Tuesday, with Marc Sambol leading the way at 1-under 71. Sambol finished tied for 25th at 148. Max Buckley, Kelly Kraft and James Kwon each shot 72 and finished tied for 36th, 42nd and 68th, respectively. Aaron Stewart, who was SMU's top finisher on day one, had a tough final 18, shooting 91 to finish tied for 110th.
Baylor won the team title at 566, while N.C. State's Matt Hill took medalist honors at 131.
