COLLEGE STATION, Texas (SMU)-SMU women's swimming and diving earned 19th place at NCAA Championships on Saturday, March 21 at the Student Rec Natatorium, in which the Mustangs collected points in the 200 medley relay, 400 and 800 free relays and the platform diving event.
In the final event of the Championships, an SMU 400 free relay team of senior Candace Blackman, sophomore Sascha Van den Branden, sophomore Elzanne Werth, and senior Petra Klosova turned in a season-fastest time of 3:16.58 for a 13th place finish in the `B' final.
In the 800 free relay, SMU placed 13th and tied their season-fastest time in prelims at 7:07.49 behind a team of Blackman, Van den Branden, Werth, and Klosova. Mustangs (freshman) Therese Svendsen, (junior) Devon Callaghan, Werth, and Klosova swam to eighth place in the 200 medley relay `B' final with a time of 1:38.57 to earn two points.
Collecting 13 points for SMU on the platform was sophomore diver Audra Egenolf, who dove to a total of 301.55 and placed sixth overall. Earlier, Klosova swam her final season-best time in the 100 back event in prelims, clocking a 53.39.
