Ken Garland Invitational Results
DENTON, (SMU) - The SMU cross country team earned its second win of the 2009 season, Saturday at the Ken Garland Invitational hosted by North Texas. The course was a 5K run around Eagle Point Cross in Denton.
As a team SMU had the top four finishers, en route to finishing with just 33 points as a team, 11 better than the runner-up Baylor. Sara Sjokvist finished with a time of 17:40.00, seven hundredths of a second better than fellow Mustang Kristine Eikrem-Engeset, who placed second with a time of 17:47.00. Mary Alenbratt finished fourth out of the 55 total runners, with a time of 17:58.00. For Sjokvist it was her first collegiate win as an individual.
The Mustangs will look to remain perfect in the 2009 campaign in two weeks as they head north for their first meet outside of the state of Texas this year, competing in the Notre Dame Invitational on Oct. 2, in South Bend, Ind.
