EL PASO, Texas (SMU) - SMU outshot UTEP 13 to 11, but the Mustangs fell 2-0 to UTEP on Sunday afternoon. Skye Schultz and Anoop Josan scored for UTEP.
UTEP (8-2-0, 2-0-0 C-USA) jumped in front early with a 6th minute goal from Skye Schultz, with an assist from Brittany Vacca. The Miners scored their second goal in the 61st minute with a goal from Anoop Josan, to give the Miners the 2-0 margin of victory.
Courtney Webb made five saves on the afternoon, and SMU (2-7-0, 0-2-0 C-USA) received the game's only corner kick. Kim Peabody and Kenzie Scovill led SMU in shots with three apiece. SMU returns home to Westcott Field on Friday, October 2nd as they host Rice at 7 p.m.
