Box Score vs. Southern Miss

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (SMU) - The SMU women's soccer team defeated Southern Miss 3-1 Friday afternoon. Kristin Medeiros, Amanda Burgardt and Allegra Nigh scored for the Mustangs. With the win, SMU moves to 11-5-2 on the season and 6-3-0 in conference play.

Medeiros got the Mustangs on the board with her goal in the 27th minute. After receiving the ball off a throw-in, Medeiros shot the ball from the corner of the 18 yard box in to the upper 90. The goal was her third of the season.

Less than two minutes later, Burgardt gave the Mustangs the lead when she fired a shot from point blank under the keeper. The goal was her fourth of the season. Medeiros earned an assist on the tally.

Nigh added insurance with her goal from inside the box in the 67th minute. The goal was Nigh's first points of the season. Medeiros earned an assist on the goal to bring her total to four points on the afternoon.

Southern Miss opened the scoring when Chanel Elgin scored off a corner kick in the eighth minute.

SMU continues its road trip Sunday against UCF in Orlando. Kickoff is set for noon.
