SMU Atop Leaderboard After Day One At Firestone

AKRON, Ohio (SMU) - The SMU men's golf team got a off to a fast start today and sit in a first-place tie with Indiana after two rounds of play at the Firestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club. As a team, the Mustangs combined to card a 572.
Senior Max Buckley shot a pair of season-low rounds of 69 which currently has him second place at 6-under, one stroke behind Mac McClung of St. Mary's (CA).
Just behind him is sophomore Harry Higgs who began the day with a first round 71 and followed that up by firing a season-low round of 68 to finish in third place, one shot behind his teammate. One shot behind Higgs, and in a four-way tie for fourth is Marc Sambol. The senior from Dallas shot 71 in the first round before carding a season-low round of 69 in the second.
SMU will wrap-up play tomorrow as the third round is set to begin at 8:30 a.m.
