Lafayette, La. (SMU) - The SMU men's golf team fought to a sixth-place finish at the Louisiana Classics this week at the 6,898-yard, par-72 Oakbourne Country Club. After carding two rounds at 297, SMU rebounded to shoot 288 over the final 18 to finish at 882. No. 6 Illinois won the event at 854, while No. 8 LSU took runner-up honors at 860.

Senior Kelly Kraft again led SMU, tying for seventh at 214 following a final-round 68. Matt Schovee also scored a top-20 finish, tying for 17th at 219. John Hahn of Kent State took medalist honors at 206.
