Transformation Continues For SMU Golf Programs

DALLAS (SMU) - The transformation of the SMU golf programs continue on the Hilltop, as the Mustangs have added a pair of new assistant coaches. Following the hiring of former National Coach of the Year and two-time NCAA Championship coach Josh Gregory to lead the men's team and former two-time Regional Coach of the Year and four-time conference Coach of the Year Jeanne Sutherland to lead the women's golf team, the men have hired Jason Enloe as an assistant coach, while the women have added David Von Ins to the staff.
Enloe, an SMU alumnus, returns to SMU after a 14-year professional golf career, playing on the PGA/Nationwide Tour, the Canadian Tour, Golden Bear Your and the Adams Tour. He won the Nationwide's Fort Smith Classic in 2009 and the Pete Dye Classic in 2006. He played on the 1997 U.S. World Amateur Team and has twice reached the latter stages of match play at the U.S. Amateur. Enloe was also a four-year letterman for the Mustang golf team, playing alongside Gregory.
"Jason has a true passion for SMU," said Gregory. "He is also an accomplished golfer who will be a tremendous asset to our golf program. Jason shares our vision of taking SMU back to the top of the collegiate golf world and I look forward to working with him."
Von Ins arrives in Dallas after stops as an assistant pro at the Vail Golf Club in Vail, Colo., and the Toledo Country Club in Toledo, Ohio. A "Class A" PGA professional, Von Ins worked with Sutherland in Vail. He graduated from Ferris State, where he earned his Bachelor's in Professional Golf Management.
"Having worked with David, I know what a tremendous teacher he is and the skill set he will bring to our program," said Sutherland. "He will play an important role in returning SMU to one of the nation's elite programs and we are fortunate to have him on our staff."
