DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU Mustangs and USF Bulls played to a 0-0 tie on Thursday night at Westcott Field in what was truly a thoroughly entertaining back-and-forth affair. The two sides played very evenly and recorded an equal number of shots on goal while USF outshot SMU by just one, 15-14.

With just one regular season match remaining, the Mustangs moved to 8-7-1 (3-4-1 American Athletic Conference), while USF now sits at 8-4-5 (3-3-2). Bodden's five-save shutout gives her three on the season.

SMU's first high-quality scoring chance came in the 26th minute as Taylor Barg received a ball in front of net. Barg connected her head with the ball but it sailed high over the bar. Barg, Jessica Bartol and Kelsey Gorney all recorded shots on goal for SMU in the first half, but none of them managed to find the back of the net.

USF had the best early opportunity in the second half, as Sharla Passariello tried to get past the SMU back line to retrieve a through ball, but the officials determined she was a step offsides before receiving the breakaway pass.

Bodden made the biggest of her five saves in the 78th minute, knocking aside a shot from USF's Jena Spengler from point-blank range near the right post.

The two teams remained scoreless at the end of regulation, prompting the first home overtime match at Westcott Field this season. SMU dominated possession for much of the first overtime, with Courtney Smith getting a ball on goal in the 94th minute. Barg had another good scoring chance, but fired a laser just wide of her intended target in the 97th minute. The second overtime featured just one shot between the two sides. Shelby Redman picked up a loose ball just outside the box, turned, and fired but a USF defender managed to get in the way to prove the shot to be harmless.

The tie is SMU's first of the season. Barg and Gorney led SMU with three shots, while Rikki Clarke, Gabrielle Petrucelli and Redman each added two.

SMU will play its last regular season game on Sunday against No. 19 UCF. SMU has defeated the Knights in each of the last two regular season matchups between the programs. The Mustangs will also be celebrating Senior Day, with recognition being given to Bartol, Bodden, Smith, Taylor Robinson and Amelia Ambrose. Tickets are available at SMUTickets.com.
