Beyond The Net: A Look Inside SMU Volleyball

Hey Mustang Fans,
My name is Rachel Greiner and I am a freshman outside hitter. This past weekend we took on the Temple Owls and the UCONN Huskies. It was a long trip and we had to travel far. We ended up going 1-1 and lost in five to Temple. It was a tough loss and there was definitely some frustration. However, we came back and won our match on Sunday against the Huskies 3-1. We are now 17-5.
This weekend we are traveling again. It will be a bit challenging traveling two weekends in a row. We are headed to New Orleans to take on Tulane on Halloween. I won't lie, I am a little upset I won't get to dress up on Halloween. Maybe I'll wear a costume on the bus. After we play Tulane we will head to Houston and play them on Sunday. Even though it will be tough missing back-to-back weekends, I'm excited and ready to go! Hopefully we'll return 19-5!
It seems crazy how fast this season is going. I feel like I just arrived and two-a-days barely ended. I can't believe all that I've learned and all the hard work we have put in. It has been fun and challenging. It's been difficult to balance volleyball and going to class but I have been managing. The transition from high school to college seems drastic; I have a lot of independence, I am very busy, classes are harder and volleyball is a lot more demanding in the best way possible. I've made some great friends already and feel truly blessed. Thank you guys for all your support and I hope to see you all there for our next home game November 7th against Memphis.
