THIS WEEK: The SMU men's golf team travels to Erin, Wisconsin to tee off at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate, Oct. 4-6, at the Erin Hills Golf Course. The first tee off for all three days is slated for 8:30 a.m.

THE COURSE: The 18-hole Erin Hills Golf Course is a 7,812-yard track that will play at 7,236 yards with a 72-par for the Erin Hills Intercollegiate...Erin Hills Golf Course has received some of the highest accolades throughout the sport being named the site of the 2017 U.S. Open.
THE FIELD: Joining host-school Marquette in the 11-team field will be Colorado State, Miami(Ohio), Mississippi, New Mexico, Northern Illinois, Oklahoma State, SMU, St. John's, UCLA and Wisconsin.
SCOUTING REPORT: The Erin Hills Intercollegiate will be filled with ranked players and teams...the tournament will feature three of the top-50 amateurs in the world including SMU's Bryson DeChambeau who sits at No. 5 on the World Amateur Golf Rankings list...seven teams have top-100 accolades from the Golfweek/Sargarin rankings, including Oklahoma State, New Mexico and UCLA who sit at No. 3, No. 14 and No. 22, respectively...of the seven teams, SMU sits fifth ranked at 53rd...OSU and UCLA also received rankings on the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll, OSU moving from No. 16 to No. 4, while UCLA falls from No. 7 to No. 13.

LAST TIME AT THE ERIN HILLS INTERCOLLEGIATE: Bryson DeChambeau took home first in the individual and SMU finished second at the 2014 Erin Hills Intercollegiate...DeChambeau finished at 4-under par (72-71-69, 212) for the tournament to win by one shot over UCLA's Manav Shah and Lorens Chan...DeChambeau's final round featured three birdies and no bogeys, giving DeChambeau 11 birdies for the tournament...as a team, SMU finished second at +7 (871), 12 strokes behind the first-place finisher UCLA (-5, 859). Andrew Buchanan earned his first collegiate top five, finishing at 1-under to tie for fourth overall (-1, 215).
LAST TIME ON THE GREEN: The SMU men's golf team finished 6th overall (-7, 857) at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Burlington, Iowa, Sept. 25-27, at Spirit Hollow Golf Course...Alex Higgs and Bryson DeChambeau led the Mustangs with top-15 finishes...Higgs finished the round tied for seventh (-6, 210) which is a career-best...this marks the third consecutive top-10 finish for Higgs...DeChambeau finished tied for 13th carding a 4-under (212).
