NOTRE DAME, Ind. (SMU) - The SMU women's cross country team came in 13^th place out of 21 teams at the Joe Piane Notre Dame invitational today at the Notre Dame Golf Course. Senior Shanoah Souza was the top individual finisher for the Mustangs, running the 5K course in a time of 17:20.1 and coming in 42^nd place out of 171 runners.

Top ranked New Mexico won the event followed by No. 14 NC State, No. 20 Notre Dame and No. 22 Vanderbilt. NC State's Ryen Frazier won the race with a time of 16:22.9 followed by Courtney Frerichs from New Mexico at 16:27.0.

The rest of the SMU lineup finished in the order of Holly Archer (17:30.2, 57^th), Karoline Skatteboe (17:31.2, 60^th), Anneke Grogan (18:05.8, 106^th), Rakel Barrientos (18:14.9, 122^nd), Cassidy Webber (18:27.8, 141^st), Justine Anthony (18:51.2, 156^th) and Rebekah Bosler (19:26.8, 165^th).

SMU's final team score of 366 was eight points behind 12^th place Florida and 14 points better than Clemson. New Mexico's winning score of 29 points was 45 points better than the second place finish of 74 points by NC State.

The Mustangs will have another week off before heading to Wisconsin to compete in the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational on Oct. 16, which will be their last race before the American Athletic Conference Championship on Oct. 31.
