Men's Golf Event In Dallas Cancelled Due To Weather

Dallas (SMU) - The Baylor University-hosted Royal Oaks Intercollegiate men's golf tournament that was scheduled for Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 26-27), has been cancelled due to rain. The large amount of water has caused the course to become unplayable.
The 2015 Royal Oaks Intercollegiate would have concluded the SMU men's golf fall tournament season. With the cancellation, SMU finished the fall slate after three tournaments. The Mustangs finished sixth at both the Gopher Invitational and the Golfweek Conference Challenge, before claiming first place at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate.
Junior Alex Higgs finished the fall season leading the team with a 71.56 stroke average and finished top-10 in all three events. Austin Smotherman was a close second behind Higgs, carding an average of 71.78. Smotherman had the best Mustang finish, tying for second at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate. Higgs, Smotherman and Andrew Buchanan all managed a low round of 67.
The Mustangs will return to action in 2016, traveling to the All American Intercollegiate in Houston, Texas, Feb. 19-21.
The tournament will not be made up.
