Sarai Delfina Monarrez Yesaki Signs With Mustangs

DALLAS (SMU) - Sarai Delfina Monarrez Yesaki has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for SMU beginning with the 2016-17 season, Head Coach Kati Gyulai announced today. One of the top junior players in Mexico, Monarrez Yesaki boasts a career-best ranking of No. 315 in the International Tennis Federation Juniors' rankings. Her list of accolades as a junior tennis player includes a 26-18 singles record and a 20-17 doubles record along with tournament wins in both singles and doubles play.
"Sarai is everything we look for in a person and in a tennis player," Gyulai said. "She has the attitude and the effort that a championship team requires, she is a stellar student and I have no doubt that she will be a top performer in the classroom as well."
Monarrez Yesaki's swept singles and doubles titles at the Copa Tampico G4 ITF in 2014, won a singles title and made the finals in doubles at the 2014 Monterrey Country ITF Junior Cup and earned a doubles title and reached the finals in singles at the 2014 Monterrey San Agustin ITF Junior Cup.
"She has an all-court game that allows her to do numerous things," Gyulai said. "Most importantly, she wants to get better and believes that her best tennis is ahead of her. We can't wait to have her on campus in a few months."
