Men's Golf Inks Three To NLIs

DALLAS (SMU) – SMU head coach Jason Enloe is pleased to announce that three players have signed National Letters of Intent, a pair from Texas and one from California. Joining the Mustangs for the 2016-17 season will be Dillon Baxter, Daniel Connolly and Jackson Markham..
Baxter makes his way north to Dallas, from Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas. The Austin, Texas-native is currently ranked at 175th by Golfweek/Sagarin after finishing in the top-25 in four of his six 2015 events, including two top-10 finishes. Baxter has highlighted the 2015 season with a fourth place finish at the PGA Junior Series at Tierra Verde. In 2014, Baxter finished top-10 in four of his last five events, including a second place finish at the Bluebonnet Championships and a third place finish at the Texas Legends Spring Preview.
Connolly makes his way to SMU from San Francisco where he attends Stuart Hall High School. The San Francisco-native found himself at the highest-level of play for players under 17 twice, qualifying for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship in 2013 and 2014, making it to the round of 32 in 2013. Connolly found his best career finish last season, where he captured first place at the AJGA Junior at Lone Tree, carding a 136 (68-68). After claiming the title to round off his 2014 season, Connolly built off of his success, opening the 2015 campaign finishing top-25 in the first three tournaments. He is currently ranked 445th in the Golfweek/Sagarin Junior Rankings.
Markham of Westlake, Texas, comes to SMU from Grapevine Faith Christian School. Markham has finished top-25 in eight tournaments in 2015, highlighted by a second place finish and a season low round of 65 at the Lanny Wadkins Junior Championship. In 2014, the Westlake-product finished top-25 seven times, four of which were good for top-10 placings. Markham is currently ranked 178th on the Golfweek/Sagarin Junior Ranking for the Class of 2016.
The Mustangs return to action in 2016, opening their slate earlier than expected at The Farm Collegiate Invite, Feb. 8-9, in Rancho Santa Fe, California. The tournament was added to take place of the cancelled Royal Oaks Invitational. SMU will return to its original schedule and head to Houston for its only Texas event, the All American Intercollegiate, Feb. 19-12.
