Adams Named To Conference Weekly Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (SMU/AAC) - McKenzie Adams was named to the American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll after a 21-point performance against then-No. 9 Mississippi State in the Puerto Rico Classic tournament title game.
The sophomore guard led all scorers and went 5-for-12 from the field and 11-of-13 from the free throw line. Adams was a rebound shy of her first career double-double, while also managing three assists, a block and a steal. Adams, an Arkansas transfer, averaged 16.7 points and five rebounds in the three day tournament.
The 5-9 Frisco, Texas, native is averaging 13.8 points per game this season, which is 12th best in the conference. Adams has recorded double-digit points in eight games this season, finishing with at least 20 points twice. This is her second weekly honor roll honor of the season, the first after her performance during the SMU-hosted Thanksgiving Classic.
The SMU women's basketball team returns to action in 2016, opening conference play at Tulsa, Saturday at 2 p.m. CT. This will be the 41st meeting all-time between the two teams with SMU leading the series, 25-15. The game can be seen on The American Digital Network.
