SOUTHLAKE, Texas (SMU) - The SMU men's swimming and diving hosted the Pre-Conference Time Trials on Saturday at the Carroll ISD Aquatic Center. The Mustangs competed against Oklahoma Baptist, the No. 1-ranked school in NAIA.
Saturday's meet marked Senior Day, as Gabriel Andonie, Devin Burnett, Hayden Hodges, Pablo Lara Carrillo, Marshall McCann and Tyler Rauth were all honored before the meet for their contributions to the program.
"This was a fun meet for our guys and we got to salute our seniors," said head coach Eddie Sinnott. "They got to swim in some events they don't usually get to swim in."
SMU began the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay (1:30.66), swam by Sam Straughan, Stefan Popov, Tyler Rauth and Christian Scherubl.
Tucker Wells won two events, taking the 200-yard IM (1:52.95) and the 200-yard butterfly (1:52.09). Bartosz Krzyzaniak added a win in the 100-yard backstroke (51.06) and Straughan touched the wall first in the 200-yard backstroke (1:50.93).
Krzyzaniak, Eastman Holloway, Justin Gibson and Scherubl ended the meet with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:02.76).
In diving, Burnett won both the one-meter (381.85) and three-meter (350.65), while Hodges posted NCAA qualifying scores and finished second in both dives.
Jake Camp (100 fly - 54.27), Lara (100 fly - 56.76) and Tristan Hejny (200 fly - 1:57.46) all posted personal records.
The Mustangs now head into the championship season, as they travel to Greensboro, North Carolina, for the American Athletic Conference Championship on Feb. 18-21.
"Now, we get to look forward to conference," said Sinnott. "We're full speed ahead."
