DALLAS -- The SMU women's golf team is in ninth place at the SMU/DAC Invitational after Friday's first two rounds at the Dallas Athletic Club. The Mustangs improved by 10 strokes in round two to hold a team total of 32-over through 36 holes.

"We could have gotten off to a better start today," head coach Jeanne Sutherland said. "It can be dicey to play at home. We know the course well but it can be confusing when things don't go like they always have. We were off balance early on but we are within striking distance to climb the leaderboard."

Lindsey McCurdy is tied for sixth amongst individuals after shooting back-to-back rounds of 73. She has eight birdies, which is tied for the second most in the tournament. At 2-over par, McCurdy is five strokes behind leader Aurora Kan (-3) of Purdue.

Alexandra Rossi carded rounds of 76 and 73 to be in a tie for 17th at 5-over. Rossi was par or better on 29 holes, including 25 pars (fourth most in the field). On par-fives, Rossi was a team-best 2-under.

After a difficult start, Jenny Haglund rebounded to finish the day 14-over. Haglund cut four strokes from the first (81) to the second (77) round. The junior is tied for 53rd.

Evelyn Dole counted in the SMU score as well. She shot rounds of 80 and 76 to be 12-over. Also playing for the Mustangs was Jennifer Park (160: 80-80).

Alex Celli and Katie Page competed as two of the four individuals in the tournament. Celli carded a 78 and 84; while Page tallied rounds of 89 and 81.

Oklahoma State (+3) has a seven stroke lead over UC Davis (+10) to lead the field. Saturday's final round is set for an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The Mustangs will be playing with Iowa State and Miami.

"We played a lot better the second round," Sutherland commented. "I know we can play better and with the top teams. We need to put three rounds together but we have the talent to do it."
