Mustang Varsity 8+ Named The American Boat Of The Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (SMU) -- The SMU rowing Varsity 8+ crew earned the American Athletic Conference Boat of the Week honor following a standout performance against Kansas on Saturday at White Rock Lake, league officials announced.
The Mustangs bounced back from a performance at the San Diego Crew Classic by outpacing KU's Varsity 8+ by nearly seven seconds in windy conditions. This is the second win for SMU in the event this season, as the group defeated Creighton and Central Oklahoma at home on March 14.
SMU's 1v8 crew consists of a pair of seniors, one junior and three from both the sophomore and freshman classes.
The Mustangs are back in action on April 18 when they host Tulsa for the annual Lawless Cup, and the final home event of the season will be April 25 when Alabama comes to White Rock. The American Athletic Conference Championship is scheduled for May 17 in West Windsor, N.J.
