DALLAS (CSCAA/SMU) - The SMU swimming and diving programs placed five student-athletes on College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America Teams, including Marne Erasmus and Nathalie Lindborg, who earned first-team honors. Ursa Bezan, Madeline Wainman and Tyler Rauth also earned honorable mention accolades.
To be selected to the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, swimmers and divers must have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have participated in their respective NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship. Honorable mention selections have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at their respective qualifying meets.
Erasmus and Lindborg were members of SMU's 2015 NCAA team, both achieving All-America status. Erasmus earned a pair of honors in the 100-yard butterfly as well as the 400-yard medley relay, a feat she also accomplished at the 2014 Championship. She also competed as a member of the 200-free and 200-medley relays. Lindborg served on all three of the Mustangs' NCAA Championship relay teams, picking up All-America honors in the 400-medley. She also met "B" standards in the 50-, 100- and 200-yard freestyles.
This is the third-straight season that Lindborg has been recognized as a Mustang. During the 2013 and 2014 seasons, she was an honorable mention selection.
Bezan, Wainman and Rauth were recognized as honorable mention selections, making it the second-consecutive season Bezan and Rauth earned the nod.
On the women's side, Bezan posted "B" cut times in the 200- and 500-yard freestyles and 200-yard backstroke, while Wainman competed in all three diving disciplines at the NCAA Zone D Qualifier earning her highest finish in platform.
Rauth represented the Mustang men as an honorable mention selection, posting "B" standards in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly. He was also part of the 400-medley relay team that reached the provisional standard.
Both the Mustang men and women earned team Scholar All-America honors on Tuesday, with the men ranking in the top 10 of all men's programs in the nation. Check SMUMustangs.com for updates on the 2015-16 season.
