DeChambeau Moves Into Second Place At Pacific Coast Amateur

EUGENE, ORE. (SMU) -- Mustang golfer Bryson DeChambeau moved into second place, while fellow rising senior Austin Smotherman is tied for 28th following the second round of the Pacific Coast Amateur at the Eugene Country Club.
DeChambeau started the day at even par and quickly jumped out to the lead after birdying three of his first six holes. He would extend his lead by three strokes on the back nine, after birdying holes one and three to reach five-under.
The Mustang rising senior's hot start cooled off as he double bogeyed on six and bogeyed on eight. Through 36 holes, DeChambeau is in sole possession of second place at two-under.
Smotherman entered the second round tied for third and remains in contention at six-over par.
Wake Forest's Will Zalatoris is the current leader at three-under. The tournament will consist of two more rounds of stroke play, ending on Friday.
